Holmes sets sights on indoor glory

KENT’S Kelly Holmes, the Commonwealth 1500m champion, has announced plans for a full indoor campaign, including the World Championships in Birmingham in March.
Holmes, from Hildenborough, near Tonbridge, has prepared meticulously in South Africa and is reported to be in great shape going into the indoor season.
The 2001 AAA indoor 800m champion will compete in the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on February 2 followed by events in France, Belgium and Germany during her build up to the World Championships where she will target the 1500m.
The current world indoor 1500m champion is Hasna Benhassi of Morocco, but Holmes will hope to strike gold with the support of a vociferous home crowd in Birmingham.
