Tonbridge Juddians left it late to beat second-placed Dorking at The Slade in National League 2 East on Saturday.
It finished 26-19 to the hosts, with Jack Lucas' second try of the afternoon converted by Tom White to earn maximum points.
It was cold and grey and heavy underfoot at kick-off but Dorking soon had a spring in their step as TJs gifted them two early tries.
The first, after four minutes, was a simple interception and the second came from a high kick which TJs allowed to bounce straight into Dorking hands to offload and scamper away for a 0-12 lead.
The remainder of the first half was littered with mistakes from both sides and neither looked like adding to the scoreboard.
Both sides retreated to the warmth of the changing rooms and some urgent words from the coaches.
Fortunately for TJs, they were next on the scoreboard as backs and forwards combined to send Lucas over for a try after 54 minutes to close to 7-12 with a White conversion.
Dorking continued to show grit and determination and more inaccuracy and poor discipline from TJs allowed them to drive deep into home territory and extend their lead with a third try to make it 7-19.
As the game ebbed and flowed from scrum to lineout and too many dropped or forward passes, Dorking offences took TJs to an attacking scrum.
A nicely-timed pass sent TJ centres Duncan Tout and James Newey arrowing at the Dorking line and a clever slip of the ball at the last second to Newey saw him cross the line, closing the gap to 14-19 with 12 minutes to play.
Ten of those minutes passed with even more frustration for TJs before a hack forward allowed Hugo Watson to win the race to touch down and level the scores.
There was still time to restart and somehow TJs found themselves back in the Dorking half.
The ball reached Lucas, who was bundled over for his second try, with White adding the extras.
TJs, whose victory leaves them sixth, head to Sevenoaks for a local derby this Saturday (2pm).
