Ben Greenhalgh keen to return to Dartford but successful loan spell with Tonbridge Angels gives forward food for thought

Ben Greenhalgh is enjoying his loan spell at Tonbridge but still hopes to have a future with Dartford.
Greenhalgh, who’s more than halfway through a one-month stint at Longmead, scored a stunning free-kick on his debut as Angels climbed off the foot of National South.
He wasn’t allowed to play in their 2-1 FA Trophy win over Bognor Regis last weekend but is set to return when they go to high-flying Slough this Saturday.
The forward wants to force his way into new Darts boss Steve King’s plans but at the same time would be ‘gutted’ to leave Tonbridge.
Greenhalgh, speaking on the KM Football Podcast, said: “I’d spent two games not being in the squad so I gave Steve a call and we chatted and we thought maybe it was a good idea for this month to go and get a loan spell in.
“I’m not 100% sure what the plans are for the future – I don’t know – but all I can do is go and play for this month and do as well as I can, enjoy my time at Tonbridge Angels, which I am, and then see what happens.
“My home club in my head is Dartford, I work for Dartford (in the academy), I love the club, I think the best outcome would be coming back to Dartford.
“But at the same time I’d feel a little bit gutted to leave Tonbridge because I get along with the boys so well, it’s a really good changing room, really good atmosphere, and it’s something I’m enjoying every week.
“I like the way they play football, they’ve got me in a No.10 role at the moment, getting on the ball as much as possible, and it’s definitely something I’m enjoying again.
“It’s difficult but it’s the way the world of football is.
“Sometimes you’re loving it somewhere, sometimes you’re not liking it as much and you’ve got to make really tough decisions.”
Tonbridge have been drawn at home to Hampton in the FA Trophy first round, with the tie to be played on December 14.
