Tonbridge boss Steve McKimm is not getting carried away after his side chalked up seven goals on Bank Holiday Monday.

McKimm watched Angels blow VCD Athletic away at Longmead, scoring three in the first half and four after the break on their way to a 7-0 thrashing.

Tonbridge have now scored 23 goals in seven games and they’re fourth in the Ryman League, Premier Division - but McKimm is keeping things in perspective.

He said: “It’s a better start than last year. We’ve got to look at each month as it goes on. I’m not getting carried away and neither are the players.

“We almost had two disasters last year – getting relegated from Conference South and then almost getting relegated from the Ryman Premier."

Tonbridge, who drew 1-1 at Harrow last Saturday, visit unbeaten Wingate & Finchley this weekend.

However, McKimm fears that Tom Pearson – who had been on loan at Chipstead – has suffered medial knee ligament damage.
