Tonbridge boss Steve McKimm says his team are a work in progress after their Ryman League, Premier Division campaign started with a win and a defeat.

McKimm’s side won last Saturday’s season opener 1-0 at Enfield Town but on Tuesday night Grays scored late to win 3-2 at Longmead.

Despite the home defeat, McKimm has been encouraged by what he has seen so far.

He said: “There have certainly been some positives and we can’t forget that it’s only early days, real early.

“Given the amount of new faces we have here (five started against Grays) this season, I know that it’s going to take a while for us to gel.

“I will give them 10 games and see how they are going – then I will know what and where I’ve got to work on.

“Saying that, we’ve started well in both games, so that was pleasing and we’ve created plenty of chances to score in them both."

Tom Parkinson netted the winner at Enfield and scored the first-half opener against Gray, with substitute Luke Blewden scored Tonbridge's other goal at Longmead.

Angels host Needham Market on Saturday (3pm) and take on Herne Bay at Longmead in the League Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
