Tonbridge Angels boss Steve McKimm says Canvey Island's new signing Harrison Tweddell told him he wanted a break from the game, not a different club

Harrison Tweddell has signed for Canvey Island – despite telling Steve McKimm he wanted “time out from football” when he left Tonbridge Angels.
The striker walked away from Longmead last week having failed to tie down a regular starting berth since joining Angels in the summer.
Tonbridge boss McKimm said: “He said he was having time out from football but Canvey Island approached him and the next thing I know, he’s going there now.
“I wish him the best and I understand his frustration at not playing football but he needed to be more honest with me and tell me he’d like to leave, rather than saying he was taking time out.”
Angels are away to Bury Town on Saturday. The hosts are second-bottom in the Ryman League Premier Division and McKimm goes there looking to build on the goalless draw at Bognor Regis in midweek.
He said: “It was a pleasing result, given the windy conditions and the personnel I had out.
“I had a goalkeeper who hadn’t played for me before, I had Ben King playing centre-half and Nathan Campbell was missing. We were up against it but I was pleased with the degree of determination the players showed.”
That goalkeeper was Dartford’s Deren Ibrahim, who joined Angels on a dual-registration basis on Monday as cover for the injured Kyle Merson. Merson landed awkwardly on his leg during the 2-1 home defeat to Grays last Saturday.
