Tonbridge Angels announce departure of long-serving winger Joe Turner after 261 appearances

Long-serving winger Joe Turner is to leave Tonbridge Angels after six years at Longmead.
Crowd favourite Turner departs after scoring 67 goals and contributing 54 assists in 261 appearances following his arrival from Kingstonian in August 2017.
He was part of the Angels side who won promotion to National League South in 2019 and is the only man to have won the club’s player-of-the-year award three times.
The 30-year-old’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent, with boss Jay Saunders unable to guarantee regular football.
“Joe has been a great servant to the club and I’ve enjoyed working with him,” Saunders told Tonbridge’s website.
“He is somebody who wants to play every week and be in the starting line-up.
“Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee him the game time he is looking for, so we have amicably agreed to part ways.

“I wish Joe every success in his football career moving forward.”
Turner said: “Tonbridge Angels has a special place in my heart and I have loved every minute of my time wearing blue and white.
“Thank you to the Tonbridge community for their unwavering support over the last six years. I’m gutted to be leaving, but what a fantastic time I have had at a wonderful club.”
