Four people were hurt after a bin lorry tipped over onto its side while on a roundabout.

The dustcart overturned at around 7am this morning on the A21 Scotney Castle roundabout near Lamberhurst, causing traffic to queue while the road was closed and the injured were treated.

Of the four people injured in the accident, one man in his 20s was airlifted to a London hospital while the other three were treated locally for less serious injuries.

Police officers, around four ambulances and firefighters were all called to the scene of the incident.

Multiple road closures had to be put in place while the road surface was made safe due to an oil spillage, and to also allow serious collision investigation officers to carry out their enquiries.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "Four patients were assessed and treated before being taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

"One patient was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The other three patients were taken to hospital with less serious injuries."

Police investigators are now appealing to anyone who saw the incident, including those who have dash cam footage, to come forward.
