15:17, 04 March 2016
Officers investigating a violent attack, which saw a man's face slashed with a glass bottle, have made an arrest.
The shocking attack happened in Zee Bar, Tunbridge Wells, in the early hours of Sunday, February 21 and left a 23-year-old man with deep cuts to his face, including near his eye.
Police released CCTV images in a bid to find the person responsible and today revealed they have arrested a 31-year-old-man from Crowborough on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The man has been bailed, pending further enquiries, to appear at a police station on Thursday, April 21.
As a condition of his bail he is not permitted to enter Tunbridge Wells between 8pm and 6am on any occasion.
The attack happened between 1am and 1.35am when the victim was ordering a drink at the bar.
The attacker is said to have smashed the bottle into the young man's face before repeatedly attacking him with the shards of broken glass, causing a number of serious cuts and lacerations.
DC Claire Black said at the time of the attack: “This appears to have been a completely unprovoked assault. The victim did not know his attacker and the level of violence used is shocking.
"This young man required multiple stitches and will almost certainly be left with some permanent scarring.”
