A prolific burglar who targeted a church, vets, nursery and café has been jailed.
David Baker, of no fixed address, swiped cash from a Tunbridge Wells church in St Luke's Road; stole food, drink, computer tablets and a mobile phone from a café in Langton Green and tried to burgle a veterinary centre in Eridge Road but left empty-handed after an alarm sounded.
The 39-year-old also broken into a day nursery in Southborough, taking sweet, plants and a laptop.
The four burglaries were carried out in the space of three months last year. Before targeting the nursery, Baker was arrested in September and charged with three burglaries and possession of Class A drugs.
But a few weeks later, he tried his luck once more at the Springfield Road nursery and was detained the same day and further charged with this break-in.
Baker was remanded in custody and later pleaded guilty to all the charges at Maidstone Crown Court.
He was sentenced to one-year-and-two-months in prison on Tuesday.
District commander for Tunbridge Wells Chief Insp Pete Steenhuis said: "This burglar targeted local businesses, causing damage and stealing anything of value he could find inside.
"The owners and staff work hard to deliver a service to local people and criminals like Baker have an impact on their ability to continue operating.
"My investigators remain determined to track down prolific offenders to ensure our communities remain protected."
