Businesses in Tunbridge Wells are being warned to look out for opportunistic thieves after cash and a mobile phone were stolen from two companies.
Officers have issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the thefts, which took place yesterday afternoon.
Police say the first happened at around 3.45pm when a man entered Sankey’s in Mount Ephraim.
The suspect asked staff when the pub would reopen, before requesting a piece of paper to write the details down. When he left it was discovered a phone had been stolen.
Around 30 minutes later, the suspect is believed to have entered another shop in London Road, Southborough. He distracted a worker by asking for an address.
Cash was later found to have been taken.
Inquiries have revealed the suspect had also been seen visiting other premises in the area.
