Around 70 cyclists have taken part in an unusual protest this afternoon.
At 1.30pm they lay in the middle of the road by the Tunbridge Wells war memorial.
They are campaigning for safer roads to be created and remained there for about five minutes before heading off.
The protest was organised by the Tunbridge Wells Bicycle User Group and attracted cyclists from across the county.
James Gower, who runs the Maidstone Bike Blog, was amongst those in attendance.
He said: "I know the people who have organised it.
"We had a laydown protest at around 1.30pm although we started meeting at one.
"We are echoing protests made by Dutch cyclists in the 70s, who were campaigning for safer roads. We want the same here."
In the Netherlands during the 1970s campaigners battled hard to get the authorities to make their road design less car-centric.
This is something the Tunbridge Wells Bicycle User Group would like to see done here.
In particular it wants motorists separated from traffic in all areas where the speed limit is above 20mph.
It would also like to see cycle paths separated from country roads with physical barriers and more facilities for bikes in town centres.
