A father and son's food delivery, which was set up during the pandemic, is on a roll.
In November, Terry Goh, 56, and son Edward, 23, a history graduate, started delivering baked goods such as cakes, breads, sausage rolls and more from four Tunbridge Wells bakeries, to homes in the borough.
Mr Goh was inspired during the first lockdown while waiting in the queue outside Paxtol Village Bakery for 40 minutes, only to find his favourite loaf was sold out.
Now, the number of suppliers they work with has grown to 19, all from the surrounding area, and the range of food on offer has also expanded.
When Kent Online first reported on the venture, called Doorstep Baker, Mr Goh and Edward were running the business completely on their own, from their home office in Tunbridge Wells.
The home office remains but they have hired three more people on a casual basis to do the packing and a delivery company as well.
Before the recent hires, the pair, who would wake up at 5am, found they were delivering the food later in the morning than planned.
Mr Goh, a former boss at product development in BT, explained: "It got to the point where we couldn't expand because we couldn't take on any more customers.
Mr Goh added: "The people of Tunbridge Wells have taken our service to heart and we are really grateful for their support. We have so much support and great fun working with our lovely independent local producers.”
The duo also now drop off apple juice, honey, cheese and jams. They have recently agreed to deliver Longtooth Gin and craft beer created the Good Things Brewing Company.
The 56-year-old says he has discovered through the venture how many artisan food and drink producers there are in and around the town.
The dad and son are still enjoying working together.
Mr Goh said: "It's really great, we argue but it's very healthy arguing, it's all debate."
For now they're staying in their home office, but if the business continues to grow that might change.
