Drug dealer Damien Mills, of Cobbetts Way, Edenbridge, ordered to pay back £7,000
13:00, 17 June 2015
A convicted drug dealer will have to pay back more than £7,000.
Damien Mills was handed a suspended sentence in August for possession with intent to supply after officers found 378 grams of cannabis in the boot of his car.
The 29-year-old, of Cobbetts Way, Edenbridge, also had more than £2,000 on his person when the stop took place in Tunbridge Wells in November 2013.
Police commenced a confiscation investigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
At a Maidstone Crown Court hearing Mills was ordered to pay back £7,114 within three months.
If he doesn't pay up in time he faces a three-month prison sentence.
Det Chf Insp Kevin Barton, from the Kent Police serious economic crime unit, said: "No one should be allowed to benefit financially from committing crime, and we regularly use this legislation to make sure criminals are made to pay back money they have made from illegal activity.
"Mills has three months to pay the money back and if he doesn’t he will go to prison and still be liable to pay back the full amount."
