Officers investigating a fatal collision in High Street, Rusthall, are appealing for witnesses.
A pedestrian, named locally as Roy Bowen, has died after being hit by a white Nissan Primastar van at the junction with Manor Road.
The accident happened at 4.55pm yesterday outside the One-Stop shop.
Relatives of the 78-year-old victim, from Rusthall, have been informed.
Mr Bowen was married to Mary, with an extensive family including children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Police closed the High Street between Manor Road and Common View while accident investigation officers attended. It was re-opened at 8.50pm.
The name of the victim, who was declared dead at the scene, has not yet been released.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the accident.
PC Chris Oliver-Jones said: "It is likely the High Street was quite busy at the time of the incident so we would like to hear from anyone who has not yet made contact.
"This means witnesses to the collision itself or anyone who saw the van or pedestrian in the moments leading up to it."
