An out-of-control bonfire spread to neighbouring undergrowth, trees and fences.
Two fire crews were called to Pembury Road at 12.46pm, after a member of the public dialled 999.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and water from a hydrant to tackle the blaze, and are currently damping down.
