Kent's first Dachshund Cafe coming to Pitcher and Piano in Tunbridge Wells
05:00, 21 August 2022
Calling all sausage dog lovers – the pawfect event is on its way to a Kent town.
Pitcher & Piano in Church Road, Tunbridge Wells, is hosting the county's first and only pop-up Dachshund Cafe next month.
The event comes hot off the heels – or paws – of a popular pop-up Cockapoo Cafe held at the same venue in May.
It's open to all Dachshunds – Doxiepoo, Chiweenie or other mix – plus dog owners and lovers.
Organisers Pop + Bark held a poll and Kent came out top for the location that Dachshund owners wanted them to come to.
The company has hosted pop-up events for different dog breeds in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham, Cardiff and more.
This year's event will include a 90-minute "off lead" social experience for Dachshunds and humans, along with music, food and lots of wagging tails.
Dachshunds are free to roam on doggy sunbeds, bathtub ballpits, lounging chairs and splash pools.
There's even a designated quiet area for nervous or older Dachshunds and guests
Owners can spoil their pedigree chums to a free "pupuccino", or a doggy-friendly iced "pupcake" from Rudi’s The Doggy Bakery.
There will also be a brunch and lunch menu, coffee, speciality teas and summer cocktails for humans.
Organiser Anushka Fernando, author of Happy Dog Days at the Pug Café, said: “The way to a dog's heart is officially through: food, pupuccinos and a safe space for them to be off-lead.
"So we'll be making it safe for them to roam and we'll also bring our famous Pop + Bark Pupuccino Bar to the Beach to whip up fresh Pupuccinos.
"This is our first ever Dachshund Café in Kent – we recently held a poll and Kent came out top for locations that Dachshund owners wanted us to come to. We cannot wait!”
The event, split over two one-and-a-half hour sessions, will be held on Sunday, September 11 at Pitcher & Piano in Church Road, Tunbridge Wells.
It's on from 11am to 12.30pm and 12.30pm to 2pm. Tickets are available at popandbark.com
