Several players were taken to hospital after an incident at a football match.
A match played by Tunbridge Wells Foresters FC on Saturday ended in “violence” in what is being described as a “serious incident”.
A statement was issued by TW Foresters which said: “A serious incident happened after a match with players being hospitalised.
“We are sickened by these events and condemn all levels of violence.”
It said children were present at the time. It is understood the incident involved the reserves.
The first team were due to play Ide Hill 3rds but this match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Several youth teams were also in action.
The club confirmed police had been involved and one of the players was now out of hospital.
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 3.54pm on Saturday, November 18, to a report of an assault near Culverden Down, Tunbridge Wells.
“Officers attended and an investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“Two men were injured and one was taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.”
*An earlier version of this story claimed the incident involved the first team’s game against Ide Hill. This was not the case and we apologise for any upset caused by this error. Ide Hill were not involved in the incident.
