A former grammar school teacher is facing sentence for downloading child sex abuse images.

Martin Davies, who taught at The Skinners’ School in Tunbridge Wells until 2007 and continued in a voluntary role up to last year, admitted seven charges of making indecent images of children.

The 64-year-old, of Birchetts Avenue, Langton Green, entered the pleas when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

The former English teacher, who was at the school for 40 years, committed the offences in April last year.

Speaking after Davies' initial hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court headteacher Edward Wesson said: "Martin Davies had a long career at Skinners'.

"He retired in 2007 and still had certain involvement on a voluntary basis until last year."

Bail was continued until sentence on June 8.
