A former Tory will be standing as an Independent candidate in the upcoming General Election.
Christopher Camp will be campaigning for votes in Tunbridge Wells on December 12.
The 74-year-old is widowed and has two children.
He has previously run as a Conservative candidate in the borough council elections but has recently resigned from the party to run against the current MP Greg Clark.
The retired chartered engineer has placed improvements to local infrastructure and social housing on his list of priorities for the constituency.
He described himself as a 'definite Brexiteer' with the view that he would rather leave on a no deal basis than with the current deal on offer.
As well as this he said providing funds to the frontline of the NHS and tougher inmigration laws were a priority nationally.
He said: "Infrastructure is in need of severe upgrading. I am very concerned about the lack of social housing and new builds need more affordable housing to help young people get on the property ladder.
"I am not a professional politician but I am doing it because Greg Clark has done a bad job and I think I can do better."
