Tunbridge Wells Motorline Nissan car dealer makes it to the top
12:00, 13 July 2015
He started off scrubbing cars to make a living – now a Kent car dealer has made it to the top.
Jamie Price began his Nissan career washing vehicles on the forecourt aged 17.
Now, 14 years on, he has risen through the ranks and has just been appointed sales manager for Motorline Nissan Tunbridge Wells.
Jamie, 31, said: “After years of washing cars in my shellsuit and trainers, I was asked by the manager if I wanted to wear a suit for a week to cover someone’s holiday.
“I impressed him as I stayed in the suit and never went back to washing cars. It’s been a great journey to get here.”
It was at St Leonards Motors Nissan in his hometown of Hastings, East Sussex, where Jamie started his career, before moving to the Tunbridge Wells branch, in Dowding Way, in April 2008.
Jamie said he doesn’t miss the car washing days, particularly in the winter “when the water just freezes”.
But he said it was an ideal opportunity for him to get to know the Nissan brands being sold.
Jamie added: “My manager used to test me on how much some of the cars were worth and I kept on getting them right. That’s when he decided to give me my first break. I’m so glad he did.”
