12:00, 23 June 2017
A man arrested after a police chase in Tunbridge Wells has been charged with theft and a number of driving offences.
Harry Kerwick, aged 29, of Hollyford, Billericay was arrested on Wednesday after officers were alerted to two cars, in convoy, which were reportedly being driven in a suspicious manner.
When the vehicles failed to stop, a police chase was authorised.
A pursuit for one of the cars, a Mercedes, was terminated amid concerns for public safety, after it mounted a pavement and collided with a number of other vehicles.
It later hit a parked car in St David’s Road and the driver reportedly left the scene.
Kerwick was later arrested in connection with the incident and has now been charged with theft, going equipped for theft, using a motor vehicle without insurance, dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.
He is due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ court for a remand hearing on June 23.
The second vehicle, a Honda, was found abandoned in Torrington car park. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.
