Nigel Peacock has announced he will be running as an Independent candidate for Tunbridge Wells in the General Election.
The 66-year-old semi retired currently runs a YouTube channel for an American company and lives in the town.
He is divorced and has one daughter.
He said: "Both the House of Commons and our local elected council have suffered badly during 2019. Whether you look at the applauding behaviour of MPs in the House of Commons, or the spats and insults thrown by local councillors over the theatre project - it's time for it to stop.
"The view of those of us outside the Commons and the local council chamber is that our elected representatives need to represent us - not fight internal personal battles to our detriment.
"We need a different style of politics in our country and that can start with some independent MPs, who can help to bring some calm.
"My reason for standing as your independent candidate is to represent our towns at a national level and focus on what is best for us and for the county as a whole.
