A Battersea puppy who had a starring role in the first episode of a new TV series has found a new and loving home in Tunbridge Wells.
Betty’s mum Ashley, a Labrador, was brought to the world-famous Battersea Dogs & Cats Home with her four one-day-old puppies, because her owner couldn’t look after them anymore.
She has now starred in ITV's For the Love of Dogs presented by Paul O’Grady. He fell in love with the puppies as soon as he saw them, and was given the honour of naming them – Betty has three siblings, called Bruno, Cleo and Billy.
Paul took Betty to the pub with him when he’d finished filming for the day.
Viewers will see these scenes when the series begins on ITV on Thursday, September 4.
Sue Wallington, Betty's new owner, went to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to look for a Labrador, and was thrilled when the charity rang her to invite her to meet a new litter of puppies.
Sue said: “I was absolutely bowled over when she came in the room. Betty was such a heartbreaker that we knew for sure she was the perfect doggy for us.
"The staff at Battersea were so helpful and lovely and we can’t wait to watch For the Love of Dogs and see it all happen again!
"Betty is already a popular dog in our local area but once the show comes out she’ll be a local celebrity.”
