The body of a woman found in a flat in Tunbridge Wells has been named locally as Ruby Smith.
Police were called to Upper Grosvenor Road in Tunbridge Wells on Tuesday to reports of a sudden death in the early hours of the morning. She is thought to be 39 years old.
John Lower, of Upper Grosvenor Road, appeared before magistrates in Medway yesterday charged with supplying heroin.
The 53-year-old withheld a plea and was released on unconditional bail to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, November 14.
Two men, including Lower, were arrested at the scene and remained in custody yesterday. A 55-year-old man was later released without charge.
Police and forensic cars were seen parked outside the property, and officers spoke to neighbours in the block of 14 flats.
The woman's next of kin have been informed.
