Tunbridge Wells to Sandhurst: Tom Hardiman passes gruelling army entry test thanks to British Military Fitness
08:00, 27 August 2016
When Tom Hardiman set his sights on joining the army, he knew his fitness would have to improve.
The 21-year-old desperately wanted to make his dream of being an infantry officer a reality, so went along to Tunbridge Wells Common for a fitness class organised by British Military Fitness.
Less than two months later, the Tunbridge Wells resident passed the gruelling Sandhurst entry test.
Mr Hardiman formerly worked in telesales for a production company, but found the job too sedentary.
He said: "For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be in the army, I love the sense of adventure, the camaraderie, and the physical aspect of being an officer cadet.
"I knew that if I wanted to join the forces I needed to be familiar with outdoor exercise.
"I am now more efficient, my stamina has increased massively and I recover quicker.
"I hope to be one of the fitter cadets on my intake by the time I reach Sandhurst, and long-term I hope to lead fantastic soldiers in demanding situations."
He will become an officer cadet at Sandhurst in September.
