A Labour candidate in Kent has been dropped from the party after allegedly sharing posts on Facebook deemed to have been anti-Semitic.
Roy Smart was the candidate for St James's Ward on Tunbridge Wells Council in next May’s council election.
However it is understood he has been suspended while an investigation takes place into claims he posted links to articles that included ones in which people were encouraged to question the Holocaust.
Recent posts by Mr Smart included links to articles and sites in which Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party leader, is defended against accusations of anti-Semitism.
The party said Smart would no longer be up for election.
It said: “Labour takes all complaints of anti-Semitism extremely seriously, which are fully investigated and appropriate disciplinary action taken in line with our rules and procedures.
"Anti-Semitism has absolutely no place in the Party, and we are committed to challenging and campaigning against it all its forms.”
Efforts have been made to contact the local Labour party.
