A luxury health and fitness spa in a Kent town centre is to close.
Champneys City Spa in Tunbridge Wells will be closing its doors next month.
Located in the high street, it offered luxurious health packages including massages, facials, beauty and body treatments.
A post titled 'Farewell Tunbridge Wells' found on the company's website says: "It is with a heavy heart that we tell you that our little haven of calm will be closing on Thursday, April 14.
"We have truly loved every minute of bringing you back to your best with our relaxing spa treatments.
"As one door closes, another one opens and while we are very excited for what awaits, we want to thank you so much for your support during our time here in Tunbridge Wells.
"We’re really going to miss you but you can still find us at Eastwell Manor, where we will be able to redeem your gift cards on products, treatments, spa days and stays.
"Alternatively, you can spend your gift cards online."
This is the first Champneys store to close in Kent, with customers now having to go to the nearest branch at Eastwell Manor in Ashford.
The company first purchased and took over the manor in November 2016.
In summer 2018, all 62 bedrooms at the hotel and mews cottages underwent a major refurbishment.
Champneys employee Amy Browne was made redundant from the Tunbridge Wells store two weeks ago.
The 29-year-old has worked in the beauty industry for over 10 years, and joined the luxury spa establishment in 2017.
She believes that the City Spa branch is shutting due to the financial impact of the Covid lockdowns.
However, she says the closure has given her the courage to start up her own business with colleague Lily Stevens.
Amy said: “It has always been at the back of my mind, and after being made redundant, it gave me the push to finally create my own business venture.”
The pair will offer massages, facials and manicures at their new treatment room in One Warwick Park, Tunbridge Wells, which will be open from Tuesday May 3.
