A Tunbridge Wells man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving, after an elderly couple died following a car crash.
Kristiyan Trendafilov, 27, is accused of causing the death of Shirley Reygate and Alan Reygate, both in their 80s, on a night in October 2018, on the A228, Maidstone Road, in Colts Hill.
Trendafilov, of St James' Road, is also charged with being over the drug limit, with cannabis in his bloodstream, and driving his Toyota Avensis without due care and attention.
He appeared for the first time at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday, where chairman of the bench, Ashley Lawrence, sent the case to Maidstone Crown Court, to be heard next month.
After the collision, which happened after 11pm near the junction with Badsell Road, emergency services descended on the scene and the Sussex couple, who had been in a Fiat 500, were airlifted to hospital.
Mrs Reygate died four days later and her husband passed away months later on January 21.
Trendafilov was released on unconditional bail for a hearing at Maidstone on Friday, July 10.
