Southborough’s library turns a new page

Southborough has a new library.
Housed within the recently completed Civic Centre in London Road, it began issuing books this week.
It has been stocked with books from the former library in Yew Road, but has also received hundreds of new volumes.
The library is a key feature of the new £10m community hub, which was funded by contributions from Southborough Town Council, Kent County Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.
The library is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm; except for Thursday when it is closed; plus on Saturday from 9am to 4pm.
Customers currently need to wear a mask and follow the one-way system.
James Pearson, the head of KCC’s libraries, registration and archives service, said: "Our staff have been working hard to get our county-wide library service back to as normal as possible, and in addition to that the team in Southborough have been busy moving and getting our brand new premises ready. My thanks to them all.
He added: "The library and the building as a whole look stunning."
All the other facilities at the Civic Centre will open shortly, followed by an "official" opening ceremony in July.
