12:00, 09 March 2017
A group trying to raise funds to create an adventure playground are pulling out all the stops to reach their £225,000 target by next week.
The Calverley Adventure Grounds project launched last March and the final fundraiser, two variety performances, are being held at the Assembly Hall Theatre on Sunday at 1.30pm and 5pm.
The scheme aims to redevelop the bowling green at Calverley Grounds, which has been disused since 2005, into a pleasant area for children to enjoy.
It has been designed by award-winning landscape architect, Jennette Emery-Wallis, also responsible for designing the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground and Tumbling Bay at the Olympic Park.
But volunteers behind the project need to raise £40,000 by next Thursday, with help from one final fundraiser.
Featuring Tunbridge Wells stars of the future, the 1.30pm show will be hosted by popular children’s entertainer Kazzamataz.
The 5pm performance showcases entertainers, including swing singers Dad Pack, Tunbridge Wells Operatic and Dramatic Society and the the winners of the Tunbridge Wells Dance Festival 2017.
A project spokesman said: "The two performances are totally different but both are set to be incredibly special. Calverley Adventure Grounds is very grateful to the Assembly Hall theatre for donating the theatre for the day and to Axa PPP Healthcare for generously sponsoring the show.“
All proceeds from both performances are being donated to the Calverley Adventure Grounds project. For tickets, £8.50-12.50, click here.
