Giles Metcalfe death: James Marshall-Gunn to appear in court after death of man in Tunbridge Wells car park

A homeless man accused of murder after a body was found in the stairwell of a car park in Tunbridge Wells has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

Wearing a prison issue green and yellow suit on a video link with Elmley Prison, Dean Lewis, 34, was not asked to enter a plea.

He is accused of murdering Giles Metcalfe, 43, who was found on the first floor of the Torrington Road car park by firefighters last Tuesday.

Early post-mortem examination results indicated he died after a fire.

A second man charged with murder, James Marshall-Gunn, 29, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge, was appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court today.

He is expected to appear at Maidstone Crown Court in the next few days.

Lewis and Marshall-Gunn will then enter pleas on May 4.

Should there be trial Judge Philip Statman said he expected to be trying it in September.

Lewis was remanded in custody.
