Shoplifter chased into The Common in Tunbridge Wells after attacking Sainsbury's security guard

A suspected shoplifter is accused of kicking a security guard between the legs and thowing a bottle at him before escaping into a wood this evening.
The attack is alleged to have happened in Sainsbury's in Linden Park Road, Tunbridge Wells.
The assailant is said to have run out of the shop pursued by staff, taking refuge in the common, an area of wood and parkland next to the store.
Police were called just before 7.30pm and a number of officers searched the wood.
A man was detained just after 8pm.
