Southern staff strike today in ongoing dispute over train guards
00:01, 22 November 2016
Today will see further strike action by Southern train staff.
Last month talks between Southern bosses and union RMT broke down, meaning several planned strikes will go ahead over the Christmas period.
The rail company has warned its services, including those from Tonbridge and Ashford, will be severely disrupted by the strikes.
The industrial action will take place from Tuesday to Thursday on a number of weeks throughout November and December.
The industrial action was prompted by plans to remove guards from trains, a move which the union has described as a dangerous.
Further strikes are planned on:
- Tuesday, December 6 to Thursday, December 8
- Thursday, December 22 to Saturday, December 24
- Saturday, December 31 to Monday, January 2
