Tunbridge Wells: 18-year-old man released on bail after alleged rape near Camden Road

Police have bailed a teenager arrested as part of their investigation into an alleged rape in a town centre.
A woman reported she was attacked in an alleyway near Mount Pleasant Roads in Tunbridge Wells on Friday.
She said she was approached by a man at 2am who tried to start a conversation. She told him to go away.
The victim was walked to Camden Road by two passers-by, where she continued on her own, but saw the man again. She reported that she was then raped by the man in an alleyway.
The 18-year-old was arrested shortly after and has been has been released on bail until Friday, December 30.
Officers are continuing to make enquiries, including reviewing CCTV opportunities and are now also appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Earlier, detective inspector Geoff Payne said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious between the hours of 1am and 2am. We believe a number of witnesses could hold important information, including a taxi driver who may have stopped in Camden Road and spoken to the victim"
"We would also particularly like to speak two men, who before the incident, came forward to offer assistance to the victim and walked with her. If you can help and haven’t already been in touch please don’t hesitate call us."
