Tunbridge Wells: North Farm Waste Recycling Centre in Dowding Way to reopen after fire repairs

A Tunbridge Wells tip has reopened, following repairs after a fire there last year.
North Farm Waste Recycling Centre in Dowding Way had been closed for more than a fortnight for strengthening work to the concrete structure, which was damaged during the blaze in October.
Until then, people were being diverted to alternative sites at Maidstone or Sevenoaks.
Initially it was closed for a month, while the damage was repaired, but the centre was shut again on February 1.
The blaze started accidentally in the bulky waste bay after mattresses and other household waste caught alight.
Residents were asked to keep their windows closed, and thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the site.
