"Services are currently unable to run between Tonbridge and Robertsbridge, and response staff are on site now."
Staff continued to fight back the flames this evening and survey the damage.
In a further update a spokesman added: "Staff at TunbridgeWells have now finished repairing damage caused by the lineside fire, so the line is now being reopened to allow trains to run.
"Services will still be disrupted while we work to get trains back on time through the area."
