Tunbridge Wells Borough Council offering vacant allotment plots in and around the town
18:00, 07 September 2014
If you're looking for an allotment in Tunbridge Wells now is the time to sign up as the council has vacant plots in nearly all of its site in and around the town.
Having an allotment means you can grow your own produce, burn calories and get fit whilst enjoying the outdoors.
An average (five rod) plot is about half the size of a doubles tennis court and currently costs £40 a year to rent.
The only other cost involved is a non-refundable deposit for a key to the padlock on the gates at some sites.
To help get new allotment holders started the council will make arrangements for the plot to be cleared of existing growth.
So if you're a keen gardener and want to get involved, speak to a member of the parks team. Call 01892 554031 or e-mail parks@tunbridgewell.gov.uk
Below is a list of sites that have vacant plots:
- Barnetts Wood
- Charity Farm
- Cunningham Rd
- Eridge Road
- Ferrars
