A police chase of a different kind was captured on video when five sheep escaped onto the A21 near Bedgebury this afternoon.
Traffic was brought to a standstill on the A21 at around 12.30pm as officers and farm workers attempted to round up the escaped animals.
Among those caught in traffic was AJ Woods, who had been driving towards Tunbridge Wells from Hastings with her children after a dance event, when she saw police had closed the carriageway.
"There was a police car ahead and we were worried there was an accident," she said. "We sat there for at least half an hour, then suddenly on the other side of the carriageway five sheep came running down the road followed by policemen and a farmer."
Despite some sterling efforts, she said the sheep managed to evade the long arm the law for more than an hour.
"It was hilarious," she added. "It took them ages and they only managed to round up one sheep when the policeman tackled it.
"When they said 'you get the head and I'll grab the back' we were on our knees laughing.
"They got it into the horsebox but someone obviously didn't lock the door because the sheep got out and it ran off again.
"Lots of people got out of their cars and were trying to help, and the farmer turned up on a little truck with some barriers."
She said she last saw the sheep heading in the direction they'd come from, towards Tunbridge Wells.
Kent Police have been approached for further information.
