Tunbridge Wells couple get engaged after creative proposal at Assembly Hall Theatre
11:00, 18 December 2016
When it came to proposing, getting down on one knee wasn't enough for one lovestruck man this week.
Alex Kelly met Amy Lawrence earlier this year on an online dating site.
Although they've only been together for just over nine months, when you know, you know.
The 38-year-old postman didn't just want to propose though, he wanted to do something extra special.
His 35-year-old girlfriend works for AXA Healthcare, which is based on Crescent Road, Tunbridge Wells.
Across the street, Mr Kelly found his inspiration.
"I obviously wanted to do something memorable, and the Assembly Hall Theatre is directly opposite the office Amy works in, so I thought it would be a great way to ask," he explained.
He enlisted the help of the theatre to write a special message across the lightbox opposite Miss Lawrence's work, and next thing he knew, she was the next Mrs Kelly.
The couple are looking to get married in 2018, but don't have a date set yet.
