Five women arrested following alleged shoplifting spree in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells, including Space NK

A gang of women are thought to have stolen more than 450 items in an alleged shoplifting spree.

Nearly 20 charges of theft have been made against four women who are said to have targeted seven shops in Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells.

Police were called at around 4.45pm on Saturday, April 6 to a reported theft from Space NK in the High Street, Sevenoaks.

It is alleged a group of women took items from the shelves and left without paying.

Patrols later spotted a vehicle suspected to be involved heading out of the county and following a short chase the car was stopped in Grays, Essex.

Five women were arrested and a search led to the discovery of more than 450 items, suspected to be stolen from seven stores, and the seizure of the vehicle.

Katlyin Connors, 20, of Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, and a 17-year-old girl from Slough were each charged with five counts of theft.

Ann Connors, 33, of Slough, and Bobby Young, 32, of Ilford, Greater London were charged with four counts of theft each.

The women have been bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates' Court on May 21.

Another woman in her 50s from Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, was released without charge.

However, investigating officers believe a further suspect may have been involved and have since released a CCTV image of a woman who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
