A shop worker had eggs and flour thrown on them after youths trashed a Tesco Express.
The staff member was targeted inside the supermarket’s Paddock Wood branch in Commercial Road, near Tonbridge.
A customer, who does not wish to be named, spotted the group arriving at around 8pm on Sunday, May 21.
They told KentOnline other shoppers had flour thrown over them during the ordeal which saw tills trashed and stock ruined.
“Staff said they’ve suffered abuse and attacks before and asked for a security guard on weekends and had been told this ‘isn’t possible because it would affect Tesco profits," they explained.
“This is not acceptable.”
Kent Police said: “We can confirm that officers have attended the Commercial Road store in Paddock Wood and spoken to staff and one of the victims. We are also in the process of retrieving and checking through CCTV.
“Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 6040100, quoting reference 46/91860/23.”
Tesco says it is working closely with local authorities to find a solution and has engaged with its guarding team to discuss ongoing safety measures for the store.
