Kent and England star Sam Billings has been selected to play for Islamabad United in the first Pakistan Super League.
The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was selected in the second, Silver, stage of the draft on Tuesday, with signings costing $25,000US ahead of the competition in the UAE in February.
The Pembury ace - who starred with the bat as England Lions edged a T20 series against Pakistan A 3-2 in Dubai and Sharjah over the past month - made his international breakthrough this year after impressive white-ball performances for Kent Spitfires over the past two seasons.
Billings was also included in England's 16-man Test squad and 15-man ODI and T20 squads to face Pakistan in the UAE this autumn having played five Royal London one-day internationals and two NatWest IT20s against Australia and New Zealand this summer as a specialist batsman.
His potential team-mates in the competition - which comes weeks before the ICC World T20 competition in India - include Australia’s Shane Watson and Brad Haddin, West Indies’ Andre Russell and Samuel Badree and Pakistan stars Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Sami.
Kent players James Tredwell, Adam Riley and Darren Stevens are also available in the draft process.
Other domestic players already involved in the tournament include Hampshire’s James Vince (Karachi), Sussex’s Chris Jordan, Dawid Malan of Middlesex and Somerset’s Jim Allenby (Peshawar), former England batsman Kevin Pietersen and Sussex skipper Luke Wright (Quetta).
