Hawkhurst: Kent Fire and Rescue battle barn blaze on Attwaters Lane near Cranbrook
08:00, 18 August 2016
Firefighters remained at the scene of a barn fire overnight last night.
Crews were called to the scene at Netters Hall Farm in Attwaters Lane at 2.40pm yesterday.
Around 20 firefighters attended the scene in Hawkhurst, as well as four fire engines and a bulk water carrier.
The barn contained 50 tonnes of baled hay, and an eye-witness photo shows the destruction being caused.
Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjoining property and barn, as well as surrounding woodland. The fire was contained to the barn at 4.15pm and two engines left the scene.
The fire was allowed to burn under controlled conditions, and two engines remained at the farm.
There were no reported injuries, and farm machinery was used at 6.30am to turn over the hay.
Fire crews left the scene today at 8.15am.
