Staplehurst: Police appeal after A229 Maidstone Road crash involving a lorry

A 35-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a crash involving a lorry and a Land Rover.
Emergency services were called to the A229 Maidstone Road in Staplehurst near Clapper Lane at 6.40am.
The Land Rover driver, a man in his 40s, had to be cut free from his vehicle and was taken by road ambulance to King's College Hospital in London.
He is in a serious condition, with head, chest, stomach and leg injuries.
The road was closed for several hours, but reopened at about 3pm.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen the crash, or either of the vehicles shortly before.
