12:05, 12 December 2016
A council has warned its residents to be wary of bogus callers after reports of men going door-to-door impersonating its workers.
Maidstone Borough Council has so far received two reports of men in high visibility jackets pretending to be staff from Biffa, who carry out refuse collection for the authority.
The men are reportedly knocking on doors in the Staplehurst area and asking for waste items.
The council has reminded members of the public that its officials will always carry ID to prove they are genuine workers.
To report an incident to the police, dial 101.
