Lamberhurst: Driver who crashed into telegraph pole in Clay Hill Road arrested after police seize 'laundered cash', a shotgun and ammunition

A driver who crashed into a telegraph pole in Lamberhurst has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering and firearms offences as well as drug-driving.
Officers were first told a Vauxhall Insignia had smashed into the pole in Clay Hill Road just after 10pm on Saturday, December 15.
On arrival, they carried out a search of the car and seized a substantial quantity of cash.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from Hurst Green in East Sussex was then arrested in connection with money laundering as well as on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs.
Police later executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home address, where a shotgun and ammunition were also seized.
The man was further arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms and ammunition without a certificate.
He was later released, pending further investigation.
