Motorists face nine weeks of delays on A264 in Tunbridge Wells
16:48, 04 March 2024
Motorists can look forward to nearly nine weeks of traffic misery starting a week from today.
SGN begins works on replacing gas mains in Langton Road, the A264, one of the key routes into Tunbridge Wells from out-lying villages, on Monday, March 11.
The disruption is scheduled to continue until May 10.
There will be traffic light controls on the Langton Road, and also on Coach Road next to the Rusthall Common Cricket Pitch, although the work there is expected to finish earlier, on April 2.
An SGN spokesperson said: "Temporary traffic lights will be necessary to ensure safety.
“These lights will move along the road as work progresses westwards to the junction of Dornden Drive.”
The firm says it will work between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday, to complete the task as soon as possible.
It is to replace decaying metal pipes with new plastic ones.
