Tragic Peaches Geldof revealed she believed she would "die like her mother" days before her heroin death in Kent, it has emerged.

The 25-year-old was haunted by the belief her fate was "preordained" and she would suffer a similar fate to Paula Yates.

In what is believed to have been her final interview published today, the socialite described her struggle with fame and drugs.

Miss Geldof - who grew up in Faversham - was discovered dead in similar circumstances to the heroin overdose that killed Miss Yates at the age of 41.

An inquest in May heard drugs paraphernalia was found at the home of Miss Geldof and heroin was discovered in her system.

She was found dead by her husband Thomas Cohen in a spare bedroom of their Wrotham home with one leg dangling off a bed and the other tucked underneath her.

Police confirmed an investigation is under way in a bid to find the person who supplied the Class A drugs to the mother-of-two.

Speaking to American writer William Todd Schultz just days before her death, Miss Geldof revealed she felt like a character in a book.

In the interview published in Spectator Life magazine, she said: "Your life, they keep telling you, is preordained, 'I'm going to die like my mother... she's going to end up like her mother'."

The journalist and TV personality also admitted she was drawn to the "sad deaths of virtuosos" such as Hollywood actor Philip Seymour Hoffman and American singer Elliott Smith, who were both drug addicts.

Miss Geldof, who spiralled into drug use following her mother’s death in September 2000, said she understood the pain of users.

"Heroin is such a bleak drug," she said. "It always makes me so sad to hear about people like Hoffman who were real masters and also family men who were just wasted by the constant, gnawing obsession with it. All heroin users have the same core internal pain."

The opening of her inquest in Gravesend heard heroin did play a part in the death of Miss Geldof - daughter of ex-Boomtown Rats star Bob Geldof, who lives in Davington Priory in Faversham.

Shortly before her death, she posted a picture on Twitter of her and her mother with the simple caption: "Me and my mum."
