Two children were removed from school after travelling back from a country not exempt from the government's quarantine restrictions.
The Staplehurst School pupils, who are in the same family, are now self-isolating for 14 days, but are not displaying any symptoms of coronavirus.
Head teacher Lucy Davenport said: “On Thursday morning, two pupils from the same family came to school following a holiday to a country not currently on the ‘safe list’.
“Neither the children nor any members of their family have symptoms of Covid-19; however after taking advice from Public Health England and in discussion with the family, the pupils were collected after spending a short amount of time in their bubbles and will not attend school until after a period of self-isolation, in line with travel advice.
“The children will be supported with home learning by the school until they return.
“All of the plans we have made as a school for this term have paid off, with the return of pupils this week going extremely well.
“Children and staff have quickly settled back into school routine and are really glad to be back with their teachers and their friends, quickly adapting to the new measures put in place to protect everyone.”
The government has produced a list of countries people can visit without having to self-isolate on return. The list changes however based on the number of cases of coronavirus in the country.
An email to parents from the school says that, upon discovery, the children's classes were moved to an isolated area within the school to allow for the classrooms and adjacent areas to be cleaned.
